Today is National Dog Day!

Yes, yes, I know. In my "family" it feels like National Dog Day every day! But hey, why not find another excuse to take the pooch out and conquer the world for a day? 

Meet Snickers. My pride and joy. My 4-legged child. My best friend. There is a lot of things I'd describe him as and all of them are great! (Meaning, he's a PERFECT dog). I honestly couldn't ask for a cuter companion. 

Snickers came to me as a scared little guy that had some trust issues. He was given to my rescue (yes I ran a Dog Rescue in high school) and needed someone just to spend some extra time with him. He was a quick learner, therefore it didn't take long before he was ready for adoption. He was posted up and ready to find a forever home. But.... No body wanted Snickers. He was a "mutt." No one cared for a Mutt. Dogs would come in then go out but Snickers would stay and wait. It was sad. He's make friends with everyone he would meet. I felt really bad for him. Little did I know that this was a blessing in disguise. 

Snickers became permanently mine after I decided to leave the Rescue business. We started conquering the world together. From kayaking to hiking, we've become inseparable. He's my side kick. He rides shotgun in the Stang and actually perks up when he hears one (He's definitely a Ford Dog). He's (hands down) the best dog I could ever ask for. 

So Happy National Dog Day! I'm glad I get to spend the day with an amazingly handsome dog like Snickers!
